Guided Casper - Bedside Manner

Context:

A new doctor, Shaun, is part of a team discussing a patient's case, who's presenting with abdominal pain, and the team suspects a malignant sarcoma. The patient overhears the discussion and becomes frightened. Shaun doesn't sugarcoat the situation and bluntly tells the patient the gravity of the situation. This sparks a disagreement among the team members about how patient information should be delivered.

Question: As a future doctor, how would you balance the ethical responsibility of being truthful to a patient with delivering information in a compassionate manner, especially when the prognosis is severe?
