Scenario: In Canada and the USA, only Christian holidays count as public holidays when most schools, government offices, banks, and other institutions are closed. Most of these countries have very diverse populations that observe a number of non-Christian religions. Your colleague participates in a non-Christian religion. He is upset that employees get the day off for Christmas but not for his non-Christian holiday.

How can governments be more accommodating to their diverse populations?
